About us
Stepping Stone School for Mentally Challenged children
was started by a few parents in Feb 1975.These parents have come to the conclusion that only in a well equipped special school with suitably trained staff and curriculum, their retarded children can be given intense training along with co-operation of parents at home.There were only five children in the school during its initial state and the parents of these children formed themselves into a managing committee.
I believe in nurturing potential and breaking barriers. Every child, regardless of challenges, is a unique stepping stone toward a more inclusive and compassionate world.

Daily activities
Designed to help Children Realize their Potential
Early Intervention
Children below 10 years are given early stimulation and training daily. Parents are also taught to train their children and provide therapy.
Vocational Training Centre
Here we give training to prepare phenyl and also give training on cover making and stitching. The purpose of having this activity is to make our children to feel that they too can contribute something to the society.
Job Placement
We help the mentally retarded persons to find suitable job.
Physiotherapy unit
Children with delayed mile stones and cerebral palsy are given regular physiotherapy by the trained therapist.
Network
We network with government and NGO’s so that persons with mental retardation receive all the schemes available for their welfare-ID cards, Maintenance Grant, Scholarships, Aids and appliances employment opportunities.
